Blogging is such an important part of getting your business found online. But writing each post shouldn’t mean you have to shed blood, sweat or tears and neither does every blog post need to be so lengthy you are giving War & Peace a run for its money.
However, what you should be doing is making every blog post work harder for you. Want the good news? That’s easy to do, so let’s take a lighthearted look at how.
They Seek Him Here, They Seek Him There
People will naturally arrive at your blog post when you share it on social media or in your newsletter. However, you also want to be attracting new readers (and purveyors of your fine products and services) and how are you going to do that? The answer is through the search engines. Yes Google, Bing, Yahoo etc.
The way to do this is to include keywords in the titles and descriptions of your blog posts to help you rank. These need to be keywords that people are actually searching for so some keyword research is called for. This isn’t as complicated as it seems and it’s definitely worth your time if you want to get more exposure for your blog.
Don’t Hide Your Light
Ok, you have created your blog post. Have you shared it? Do you have a share bar under every post so that you and your readers can share it easily? Once you’ve shared it once, have you shared it again and again? Of course not shares straight after each other but it’s fine to share it over the next few weeks and months.
If it’s evergreen content particularly you need to keep it in the forefront of people’s minds and also when you share it on social media only a small fraction of your audience will see it each time anyway.
Don’t be hesitant, share your message and get more readers. Easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy!
Made You Look, Made You Stare
Now your blog post, does it have a very nice image accompanying it? One that will show up and make people want to learn more when you share it across social media? One that can be pinned to Pinterest? No! Then get right to it. Either use your own images or download super nice free ones from Pixabay and Unsplash and modify them using PicMonkey. Again, easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy!

Do you know how many people arrive at your site every day? Do you know what are your most popular blog posts so you can do more of those? Do you know whether people are arriving through social media, direct or search? No, then you are missing so much valuable information from your quest to be a better blogger. You could use Google Analytics for this one or I find Clicky so much easier.
So, You Don’t Need to Make Any Sales This Week?
Ok your blog post is live with an image, a share bar and you are rocking this whole blogging biz. What’s that, you don’t want to drive any sales from your blog? Why of course you don’t because there is no Call-to Action in place.
A Call-to-Action doesn’t need to be included in every single blog post but make it a regular feature and also shake it up a bit. Sometimes you might want to mention a product or service, sometimes you might want to invite people to sign up to your mailing list. Also a P.S. format can work really well. Again, easy-peasy-you-get-my-drift!
